Family therapy in Kraków
Family therapy means sessions you come to together — parents with children, sometimes also grandparents or other close people. We look at what is happening between you, not at who "has the problem".
A family is a system of connected vessels: one person's difficulty touches everyone, and a change in the way you talk to each other can transform everyday life at home.
What you can come with
- conflict, arguments and tension at home
- parenting difficulties, a rebellious teenager
- a child or teenager who is struggling — anxiety, withdrawal, trouble at school
- divorce or separation of the parents, a blended family
- illness, loss or another change that has affected the whole family
- difficulty talking across generations
- parents who cannot agree about the children
- the wish for a calmer, closer home
What it looks like
The first session. You come together — in the make-up you live in every day, or the one you agree with the therapist before the visit. Everyone has room to say how they see the situation. Together you decide what you want to work on.
How often. You decide the frequency and length of sessions with the therapist — family sessions are usually less frequent than individual ones, because between them the family tries out new ways of being together in everyday life.
Impartiality. The therapist does not take anyone's side — neither the parents' nor the children's. They make sure everyone is heard, including the youngest.
At the practice. Sessions take place at our practice at ul. Szlak 77 in Kraków. If someone cannot get there, some sessions can be held online — agree this with the therapist.

Family therapy — frequently asked questions
Can’t find an answer? Call us — we are happy to talk.
Do we all have to come?
Not always. Who attends is agreed with the therapist — sometimes the work is with the parents, sometimes with a parent and a child, and at another point with everyone together.
Does my child have to talk about everything in front of us?
The therapist looks after each person's safety. If a child or teenager needs a separate conversation, it can be arranged — the rules are set out clearly at the start.
How is family therapy different from couples therapy?
Couples therapy is about the relationship between two adults. In family therapy we look at the whole family — including the relationships between parents and children and how a change in one relationship affects the others. See also couples therapy.
How much does a session cost?
Current prices are in the price list. You can also ask by phone: 662 888 417.
From what age can children take part?
It depends on the family's situation and what you are coming with. Talk to the therapist about it at the first contact.
Who provides family therapy at Primavera?
People trained to work with families in the systemic approach — see the profiles of our therapists.
What family therapy is about
In family therapy we work in the systemic approach. That means we do not look for someone to blame or for "the patient" — we look at how the family works as a whole: who talks to whom and who stays silent, what role each person plays and which unwritten rules run the home. Often the symptom the family comes with — for example a child's difficult behaviour — turns out to be the way the whole family copes with something that is hard to say out loud.
Change begins when everyone can be heard. The therapist helps you talk in a way that lets the other side's needs and worries be heard, and looks with you for new ways of being together — ones that fit your family, not a textbook.
Who it is for
Families with young children and with teenagers, separated parents who want to organise care for their children well, blended families, and adults with their parents when old conflicts stand in the way of closeness. You do not need to have a "serious problem" — it is enough that home feels too heavy.
Not sure whether this is the right form for you? Call us: 662 888 417. After a short conversation we will suggest whether family therapy, couples therapy or individual sessions would suit you better.
